Teacher of the Year Pep Rally

Hello Rocky Mount Community : )

Mrs. Glynis McGee, our 2010 Teacher of the Year, was treated to a very special day on October 26th! Teachers of the Year from every Cobb County school were given the red carpet treatment for the annual ‘Give Our Schools A Hand’ pep rally! Students, staff and community supporters packed Roswell Street Baptist Church, cheering and clapping as teachers made their way into the auditorium. The McEachern High School marching band led the procession, energizing the room!

The Company theatre group from the Pebblebrook High School Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts entertained the crowd with a medley of pop performances, including “Dancing in the Street,” “Dancing Queen” and “Express Yourself.” Each teacher was individually honored and awarded a special plaque by Superintendent Fred Sanderson. Partners in Education from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce provided a variety of giveaways for the teachers and the Ed Voyles Automotive Group awarded a one-year lease on a new car to each of the District-level winners, Chris James, Kathy O’Hara-Rosa and Lisa Tatum!

The Teacher of the Year pep rally is probably the highlight event of the year for any teacher given this honor by their peers. Why, you might ask? The answer is simple...this event includes the students of these very special teachers and the combination is ELECTRIFYING!!

I also would like to thank the parents in Mrs. McGee's class for all that they did to get the students to the event and then back to school in time for lunch! Ladies, you were amazing!!!
