On behalf of the entire Rocky Mount staff and PTA Board I want to thank each of you who attended Open House. We hope you found the evening to be informational and exciting. We are looking forward to another academically successful year as we guide our students to INVENT THE FUTURE!
As we put away the lazy days of summer and start a new school year, please remember it is essential that we maximize and protect the instructional time of our students. I would like to share with you the top 10 ways that families can help protect the instructional time of students.
- Check to be sure students have needed items for school each day.
- Ensure that students arrive to school on time and are in their classrooms ready to learn by 7:45 a.m.
- Avoid scheduling appointments for students during the middle of the school day.
- Plan family vacations when school is not in session.
- Only visit classrooms when scheduled with teachers.
- Meet your child at the cafeteria when having lunch and say goodbye to your child in the cafeteria.
- Do not go to classrooms during arrival and dismissal times.
- Avoid early dismissal whenever possible.
- Keep toys, trading pieces, video games, cell phones, ipods, etc at home.
- Volunteers are always welcomed at Rocky Mount Elementary. All volunteers must stop by the front desk to receive a visitor’s pass. Also, volunteers should not be accompanied by small children, as they can cause disruptions to the teachers and distractions to students during instructional time.
