WELCOME to ROCKY MOUNT 2010

Dear Rocky Mount Family,

It is my privilege to welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year at Rocky Mount Elementary. I am thrilled to be starting my third year as Principal of this outstanding Georgia School of Excellence. Our Rocky Mount students, parents and staff continue to make this school a truly special place. As we embark upon this year, we will continue to hold ourselves to the same high expectations as we expand our horizons and INVENT the FUTURE!

The start of every new school year brings excitement and energy to students, parents, teachers and the community. I think we would all agree that there are few things in this world more satisfying than seeing our children excited about learning, applying what they have learned and then building on that knowledge to expand their understanding. It is essential that we continue to provide an intellectually stimulating and technology enriched environment for our 21st century students. Thanks in part to SPLOST dollars, we now have Smart Boards installed in all of our classrooms which will certainly enhance our goal of providing a technology-rich environment.

This year the student and staff theme is “Invent the Future!” With that in mind, I am confident that our Rocky Mount staff and families will join together to cultivate the minds, bodies and hearts of our children as we prepare them for the future! The partnership between home and school is the key to creating life-long learners and responsible citizens. We must teach and model the behaviors that are necessary for our children to be successful now and in the future. We invite and encourage you to work with us by being a great role model for all of the children at Rocky Mount as they INVENT the FUTURE!

The PTA Board & committee members have worked tirelessly over the summer to plan for the 2010-2011 school year. History will repeat itself as we have another exciting year of working together to ensure that ALL Rocky Mount students are welcomed, respected, challenged, enriched and provided a quality of education that is unsurpassed. I encourage and invite each of you to join the Rocky Mount PTA.

The Rocky Mount Foundation has been very busy as well! The tireless efforts of the Foundation board combined with your unwavering support have allowed us to meet our 2008-2010 fundraising goal!!!! We will have a brand new 'sport court' installed in our gym -hopefully before Sneak-a-Peek.

Thank you for all you do to support your child and the school. I look forward to developing and continuing our partnership as we work together to provide an exciting and nurturing atmosphere of excellence.

Sincerely,
Mrs. May : )
