Hello all : )
It’s almost the end of the year! This school year seems to have flown by once again! 2009-2010 has presented us with some never before challenges and experiences. Who would have ever imagined that we would miss several days due to flooding AND then snow!! With that said, I hope that you would agree we have worked together as a school community and have maintained our high expectations and standards regardless of the circumstances.
Our PTA and Foundation had incredible success this year as well. Even in our current fiscal environment we have been able to maintain all of our programs and have even expanded activities that are funded by these two organizations! For example, proceeds raised by the Foundation’s Read-a-Thon were used to purchase ELMOs for our intermediate classes AND we will have our new gym floor installed over the summer!!! The ability to do this is a direct result of YOUR continued commitment to Rocky Mount Elementary! Thank you : )
First In Math is a program that made a BIG splash at Rocky Mount this year. At this time, our students have received over 1,000,000 stickers. Why is that so exciting? Well, a student must solve 3 problems correctly to earn a sticker. Our students have solved over 3,000,000 computation problems correctly! We are looking forward to seeing improved math scores on our CRCTs as result of this ongoing practice! Also, I am happy to say that our PTA will be funding a portion of the First in Math program for next year, and we hope to include our K-2 students from the very beginning of the year.
While the budget continues to present significant challenges for our school district, Mr. Sanderson, the Board and the Executive Cabinet are working together to ensure our students will continue to be provided the quality education expected in Cobb County and at Rocky Mount Elementary. Please continue to check the district’s website for information about the budget. www.cobbk12.org
I hope your summer is filled with relaxation and recreation. Enjoy the lazy days of summer and know that we will be working hard over the summer to ensure that next year is even better than this year.
THANK YOU for a GREAT YEAR!!!
