Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! We are all so very excited to start another year at this GREAT school. Our purpose, as it is every year, is to ensure that all students have a successful school experience at Rocky Mount . Each year we as a staff set goals to enhance our performance and our students' performance. This year, we are taking our goal setting one step further to now include our students. Look for more information very soon!
The chart below compares our CRCT scores in 07-08 with last year's scores. Additionally, it is VERY IMPORTANT to note that 100% of all of our third grade students met or exceeded standards on the Reading CRCT!!! 100%!

Our Rocky Mount staff is also reviewing the most recent test data and the District's strategic plan to refine/refocus our academic goals for this year. This information will be available in September.
We have several new staff members that I would also like to introduce.
-Jenna Masters is joining our Deaf & Hard of Hearing department, and will be working with our primary students.
-Sharon Lightstone is joining our counseling department and is also a part-time counselor at Addison Elementary.
-Carolyn Byrd, returning Rocky Mount teacher, is going to be a fourth grade teacher for us this year.
-Teresa Worthon who was a supply teacher for us last year is returning to work with third grade. Ms. Worthen and Mrs. DiNatale will be co-teaching this year.
-Christine Einerston will be co-teaching with Erin Thompson in fifth grade.
-Kathy Hutson, who completed her student teaching with us last year, will be a K para.
-Lisa Dick will be wearing a different Rocky Mount hat this year. Lisa will be a para in our special needs pre-k class.
Please help us to welcome our new staff to the community : )
The first Tuesday of every month the Roadrunner Monthly will be emailed to parents. The purpose of the Roadrunner is to send as much information as possible to parents electronically through email/web page. Please provide your email address to your child’s teacher so you will get your monthly updates. If you prefer a hard copy of information please indicate on the form provided to you. Weekly updates/changes will be posted to the teacher's blog as well as the main Rocky Mount page.
In order to support your child’s learning goals; please make sure that he/she arrives on time each day. Be aware of class work and homework assignments. Check your 2nd-5th grade student’s agenda daily and encourage your child to develop a sense of responsibility for his/her own behavior and learning goals. Keep in touch with your child’s teacher.
I look forward to this year and the Rocky Mount staff anticipates many exciting opportunities for you and your children.
Sincerely,
Gail May
