We had a wonderful first week of school! Mr. Giesler and I celebrated with students by handing out ice cream (actually it was yogurt) during lunch on Friday. We were so very impressed with your children's manners!
They said please and thank you just like you have been teaching them : )
We were very pleased to see all of our kindergarten and first grade parents at Open House on Tuesday evening. All of the feedback we reecived indicated that parents found the information to be helpful and really enjoyed seeing their children's classrooms. The kindergarten and first grade teachers wanted me to be sure to thank everyone who was able to attend!
Open House this Tuesday will be for 2nd and 3rd grade parents. Fourth and fifth grade parents are invited to attend Open House on Thursday evening. Also, Open House for all TARGET students will be held on Thursday at 5:30 pm in the Media Center.
Your assistance please......
Student Dismissal - Have you ever had a hard time getting your children out of the door at your house and into the car to go someplace? Now, try to imagine what it would be like to get almost 600 children out of your house and into the car - all within about 10-12 minutes. Well, everyday the front office and our staff are faced with this challenge and we must have you assistance to ensure that everyone gets to the right place. If you need to check your children out early, you must do so BEFORE 1:45 pm. Thank you for support in making our daily dismissal a smooth and safe process.
Car Lane Tags - Parents must have a car tag to pick up children in the afternoon car pool lane. This is something new for our Rocky Mount Roadrunners. Car riders will be provided with (1) car tag at no cost. Additional car tags can be purchased in the front office for $2.00 or students may bring $2.00 in a labeled envelope and place it in the black box. Car tags will be delivered to the classroom for students to take home. By the end of the week of August 17th we will expect all families to have a car lane tag. Beginning August 24th, if a car does not have a car lane tag the parent will have to park and come inside so that we may verify the parent is on the pick up list. Thank you for your patience as we implement this system to ensure greater safety of our children.
Student Agendas - Students in 2nd-5th grade are strongly encourage to purchase and use a Rocky Mount agenda. The cost of the agenda is only $2.50 and can be purchased at the PTA school store.
Thank you : )
